Eighty percent of illness is driven by stress. Stress can come from emotional, physical and even transpersonal sources, such as the state of our world and our collective fear. Functional medicine is a form of Western alternative medicine, with a focus on identifying and addressing the root causes of disease, and which views the body/mind as one integrated system, not a collection of independent systems. Healing involves looking at diet, nutrition, and the effects of environmental toxins to predispose people to illness versus health. While I am not a medical doctor or a naturopath, I do have a lot of knowledge about the connection between physical and mental health. This includes understanding digestive issues, such as food sensitivities, intestinal permeability, candida, histamine sensitivity and their connection to issues such as insomnia, addiction, trauma, depression and anxiety. I have worked with the endocrine system extensively, including Hashimoto's, menopause, and adrenal fatigue. I can help you educate yourself about alternatives to prescription medications such as amino acid therapy and nutritional supplements. I can help you create a detox program which can reduce inflammation and the long list of symptoms inflammation generates. I can help you keep your immune system strong in a time of unprecedented change and anxiety.

My work is focused on getting to the root causes of issues rather than just treating symptoms. I help you look in the right places to understand and resolve the physical underpinnings of psychological issues. I’m experienced with autoimmune disorders, adrenal fatigue, Lyme disease, food issues, insomnia, ADD, fibromyalgia, thyroid imbalances, chronic fatigue and pain as well as other issues that involve the body and mind working together. My role is to help you understand your health more fully so that you can create the lifestyle that supports your health goals. Often holistic medical practitioners suggest to people that they should change their diet or lifestyle without having the time, understanding or tools to help people make those changes. If you are working with a functional medicine doctor or nurse, this work can support that.  Our work can help you create a sustainable, healty foundation for managing weight, diabetes, blood pressure, or whatever your health challenges may be.
